Hokkaido - getting ready to photograph at sunrise.
Minus 20°C, exhausted from the intensive days and short nights. Our third and final day at sea couldn't have had a better start. And this is why I always jump out of bed - even in the middle of the night - if I can spend a morning in nature.

After years of non-stop working I escaped to Iceland. Completely in awe of the brutal nature I returned a year later, this time with my first decent camera. I learned to photograph during that week and can only recommend you do the same.
You will discover a completely new world, full of colour, light and shadow. You will find beauty in unexpected places. Time will get a new meaning. And there is absolutely nothing that will reset your mind more than sitting in a remote location, observing how nature changes every minute. Even in the pouring rain or the freezing cold, you will smile. That's a promise.

If you are triggered, you should start reading Jeffrey Van Daele's books. You will not realize it at first but there are gold nuggets to be found on every page. And if you want to take it to the next level, follow one of his (online) courses or join a guided trip.
Also check out Thierry Vanhuysse, Yves Adams, Bart Heirweg and Starling Tours for more inspiration. All are highly recommended.

Enjoy,
Tim
